Don't blink

Don't blink as this report will last almost as long as an NHL/NHLPA labor meeting on the lockout.

Just 2 teams with prospects seeing any action on Tuesday evening and one was sitting out due to "an upper body injury."

In Peterborough, the cellar dwelling Peterborough Petes hosted the Oshawa Generals as the Petes were trying to break a 4 game losing streak.  Oshawa scored the game's first 3 goals and then held on for a 3-2 win.

Peter Ceresnak (NYR 2011 6th) was scoreless and a -1 for the evening. Now meaning to kick the kid when things are down but 1-2-3 -18 says something about his shot at the NHL.

The Petes have lost 5 straight and are on a 1-9 run that has them 10 points out of the last playoff spot in the OHL's Eastern Conference.

In Saskatoon, the Saskatoon Blades returned home after a road trip that had more Blade players injured than wins. Shane McColgan (NYR 2011 5th) missed his 3rd game with a "upper body injury."

Sorry it is a concussion and calling it an "upper body injury" fools nobody these days. That McColgan didn't play on a night where the Blades only had 10 healthy forwards dressed says something.

And no it is not a bad thing as to be honest, I applaud the Blades for keeping McColgan out of the lineup. It says a lot about a franchise that doesn't risk the health of one of it's top players even if it means they have to play shorthanded.

The Blades fell behind 3-1 in the second period before rallying with 4 unanswered goals to earn a 5-3 win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. The win not only got the Blades back to 500 at 12-12-0-1 but jumped them from 4th to 2nd in the WHL's East Division.
